The Challenge

This project was located in one of the busiest corridors in downtown Los Angeles; with significantly high volumes of pedestrian and vehicular traffic. Work included the construction of the City of Los Angeles sanitary sewer lines, water lines, and electrical power ducts.

The improvements displaced the existing utilities to alleviate conflicts and clear the underground path for the future rail system to be installed in the successive Metro project. Additional scope included contaminated soil removal; nightly traffic control and maintenance; AC paving; cathodic protection; and vault shoring.

Pulice worked with Metro and all corresponding subsidiaries through multiple shoring redesigns to accommodate the existing utilities encountered. By working six 12-hour shifts a week and a few Sundays, Pulice was able to advance the operation, while minimizing delays, and finish the milestone in 36 days, five days prior to the CicLAvia – Heart of LA event.
