The project improvements include the installation of approximately two miles of new sewer pipeline that will carry wastewater from the north shore of Agua Hedionda Lagoon to the Encina Water Pollution Control Facility on Avenida Encina, a critical segment of infrastructure in Carlsbad. Work includes the construction of a prefabricated steel truss bridge; 33 MGD wastewater lift stations; and approximately 4,000 lineal feet of 36-inch diameter HDPE sewer force main pipeline by open-cut and trenchless methods of installation.

Additional work includes approximately 6,900 lineal feet of 54-inch diameter gravity flow sewer pipeline by a combination of open-cut and trenchless construction methods; approximately 290 lineal feet of 42-inch diameter gravity flow pipeline and approximately 11,000 lineal feet of 18-inch and 12-inch diameter PVC recycled water pipeline and appurtenances.
