Our Port Arthur Floodwall & Levee Raise Project in Port Arthur, Texas, recently surpassed 200,000 work hours without a lost-time incident, marking an important safety milestone for the project team.
The project team marked the achievement with a barbecue cookout to thank employees for their work and continued commitment to safety.
The achievement reflects a shared commitment to Safety Above All—making decisions every day that protect the people performing the work and ensure everyone goes home safely.
“Working on a jobsite that puts safety first means a lot to me because it shows that we genuinely care about the people doing the work,” says Project Manager Ankur Gandotra. “At the end of the day, the most important thing isn’t the milestone or the schedule; it’s making sure everyone gets back home safely to their loved ones.”
Building a strong safety culture in Port Arthur
The approximately $100 million project is delivering major resiliency improvements near the Sabine-Neches Waterway along the Texas Gulf Coast.
The work includes 5.5 miles of new earthen levee, 5.5 miles of new floodwall, 26 new closure structures and stronger concrete and sheet pile. The project requires teams to coordinate complex construction activities while maintaining a consistent focus on planning, accountability and safe execution.
Reaching 200,000 work hours without a lost-time incident represents the cumulative impact of those decisions across the jobsite.
