Major bridge structures are taking shape along the I-10 Colorado County project as crews complete critical girder installation across the corridor outside Houston.
Recent work included the installation of 54 steel girders over the Colorado River and 63 concrete girders at Ratliff Creek. These placements form key components of the future eastbound and westbound main lanes.
At the Colorado River crossing, crews constructed a rockfill coffer dam to create a safe and stable work platform. This allowed teams to position cranes and access spans stretching more than 300 feet.
At Ratliff Creek, the operation required a larger lifting capacity to place heavier, specially fabricated girders. Careful coordination ensured each beam was set accurately and safely.
Next, crews will install girders across the remaining spans at the Colorado River while work begins on forming the bridge deck at Ratliff Creek.
As construction progresses, these efforts support improved mobility and connectivity along the I-10 corridor.
