The SH 36 Brazoria County project is entering its final stretch, with crews focused on the last activities needed to bring the roadway full online.
Project Overview: SH 36 Brazoria County Project
Owner: Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT)
Contractor: Pulice — a FlatironDragados company
Location: Brazoria County, Texas
Project Type: Highway widening
Significance: Once complete, the widening of the SH 36 highway will enhance safety, mobility and hurricane evacuation routes for the local communities.
Nearly 13 miles of roadway have taken shape, and all mainlane concrete paving is now complete. Crews are currently preparing to open the roadway to its final configuration, marking a major step toward project completion.
Once the roadway is open in its final configuration, remaining finishing work will continue as the project moves toward full closeout in the coming months.
This segment of SH 36 widened the existing two-lane roadway, adding capacity and improving safety along a corridor that supports daily travel, connects communities and strengthens access to the Port of Freeport. The corridor also serves as an important regional evacuation route during severe weather events.
