Sachin Manjunath knew early that he wanted to build something lasting. As the son of a heavy civil construction contractor, he grew up watching roads, bridges and other major structures take shape. That early exposure stayed with him and helped set his path toward civil engineering and construction management.
Now, Sachin has brought that long-standing interest to Pulice – a FlatironDragados company as a new project engineer on the 303 & I-17 Traffic Interchange Project in Arizona.
“With Pulice, I was presented an opportunity to be ‘hands on’ for a vital project,” he says. “And on top of that, I love bridges, so this is really an opportunity I couldn’t resist.”
Sachin recently moved to Arizona from El Paso, Texas, where he first earned a master’s degree in construction management at the University of Texas at El Paso before working nearly eight years as a project engineer. His experience there included roadway electrical work, signs and utility systems, along with work tied to bridge foundations and other infrastructure elements. That background is already proving valuable on one of the Phoenix area's major transportation projects.
On the 303 & I-17 Traffic Interchange Project, he is currently focused on pipeline work, including the installation of stormwater drains. He is also supporting utility-related scopes and helping manage roadway electrical work. “Utility work is a critical part of any project because mistakes can create major downstream impacts,” Sachin says. “I’m looking forward to delivering my practical experience to deliver the operational excellence Pulice is known for.”
That combination of utility experience and enthusiasm for heavy civil construction makes him a strong addition to the team. He also said he has been impressed by the people around him so far, especially the project leadership and the company’s clear focus on safety. For Sachin, that matters. He appreciates being part of a team that acts quickly when something does not look right and keeps safety at the center of the work.
Outside of work, Sachin enjoys traveling, hiking and sightseeing. He and his wife were excited to make Arizona home in part because of the many places they can explore across the state.
