Widening of the existing Sam Houston Tollway from two lanes to four lanes in each direction for a total of 4.5 miles. The major project components include prestressed concrete girder bridges, concrete box culverts, mechanically stabilized earth walls, continually reinforced concrete pavement, and reinforced concrete pipe.

The project will construct one new bridge in addition to eight bridge widenings – two of the widenings are approximately ½ mile long and cross over SH 288.
