2026Project Overview
The Mesa Gateway Airport Runway 12R-30L Reconstruction began in October 2024 to modernize one of the airport’s key airfield assets and support safe, efficient operations for commercial, general aviation, military and other airport users. Delivered through a Construction Manager at Risk, or CMAR, model, the project has strengthened the collaborative relationship among Pulice – a FlatironDragados company as contractor, Mesa Gateway Airport Authority as owner and Kimley-Horn as designer. That approach has allowed the project team to work cohesively, address field conditions quickly and plan construction around active airport operations.
Across two phases, the project reconstructs approximately 7,200 feet of Runway 12R-30L. Phase I reconstructed 2,800 feet of runway pavement between Taxiways B3 and L, along with runway shoulders, grading, drainage improvements, airfield lighting infrastructure, signage, striping and related taxiway work. Phase II reconstructs approximately 4,400 feet of Runway 12R-30L pavement and Taxiway B2, including reconstructed shoulders, new runway markings, airfield lighting conduit, cable and runway edge lights, replacement runway edge lights and base cans, new LED Distance Remaining Signs, earthwork, lime-treated subgrade and cement-treated base.
