Lake Ralph Hall

The Lake Ralph Hall project included the construction of two bridges and related roadway improvements as part of the development of the new reservoir. Completed in 2023, the bridges provided a way for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists to cross the lake.

Stretching more than one mile in length, the North Sulphur Bridge carries State Highway 34 across the reservoir. Along with Merrill Creek Bridge, the structures help maintain transportation connections in the area.

With a storage capacity of approximately 59 billion gallons, Lake Ralph Hall is expected to help meet the growing water needs of North Texas communities. The reservoir also provided recreational opportunities.

The project marked the Upper Trinity Regional Water District’s first use of the progressive design-build delivery method. This collaborative approach helped foster a strong and transparent relationship between the project team and the owner throughout the project.
